Buy Fresh Buy Local

EAT.  WISELY.

The Environmental Defense Center, working in cooperation with the Community Alliance with Family Farmers and the Ventura Ag Futures Alliance released the first edition of the Buy Fresh Buy Local Food Guide for Santa Barbara, Ventura and northern Los Angeles Counties in December 2009. In addition to identifying local farmers, food artisans, farmers markets, restaurants, and retailers who feature locally grown products, this guide also stands as a resource for information on farm-to-school programs, edible landscapes, CSAs (community-supported agriculture), seasonality charts, and more. Remember, your food choices have an impact on the health of our families, our environment, and our local economy.

We are currently working on updating the guide and hope to release another version soon. In the meantime, please feel free to download a copy of the guide here copy here (PDF, 2.1 MB) for your reference.
