JOINS ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE CENTER
ADVISORY BOARD
The Environmental Defense Center proudly announced today that
former Santa Barbara Mayor Harriet Miller has joined its Advisory
Board. Mayor Miller's term on the Board is effective immediately.
"We are honored and privileged to have Mayor Miller on our
Advisory Board," stated EDC Executive Director Cameron Benson.
"Harriet Miller has demonstrated a strong commitment to this
region's environment and quality of life. The EDC welcomes her
experience, advice and wisdom."
Harriet Miller served as a Santa Barbara City Councilmember from
1987 through 1994, and as Mayor of Santa Barbara from 1995 through
2001. She is the President of HMA, Inc., a management consulting
firm, and formerly served as the Executive Director of the U.S.
Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, the American
Association of Retired Persons (AARP), and National Retired Teachers
Association (NRTA). Harriet Miller also served as the Superintendent
of Public Instruction for the State of Montana.
Since 1977, EDC has been serving California's Central Coast as
the only non-profit environmental law firm between Los Angeles
and San Francisco, assisting other environmental and community
groups with their efforts to protect our environment and cherished
quality of life.
Other EDC Advisory Board members include Pauline Abbe, David
Anderson, Dr. Michael Behrman, Paul Franz, Joyce Howerton, Lillian
Lovelace, Marc McGinnes, Lessie Nixon-Schontzler, Bob Ornstein,
Bill Palladini, Selma Rubin, and Herman Warsh.
